Finding my Jack Russell Puppies...
SH - Year 6
It was a wet miserable Monday afternoon when the most amazing thing was about to happen. As I wandered home from school a rain drop trickled down my cheek, sending an icy chill down my spine. I jogged up the thirty degree hill passing the local corner shop. I heard a neglected whimper by the bins at the side of the shop. I peered around and saw a turned over cardboard box containing eight feeble Jack Russell puppies. They were all curled up and squashed together on a tattered tea towel. A sudden rush of infuriation occurred inside me, and I felt the urge to scoop them up and cradle them close. Suddenly, I could bear it no longer and picked up damp box. I ran as fast as my feet could carry me, faster than I have in any race. I had been making sure the puppies were all safe and secure. When I got past the gate I barged through the front door. "What's the rush?" Mum questioned, looking baffled. I showed her the box and watched her eyes widen in surprise. "Can I keep them?" I spluttered, utterly worn out. Mum smiled gently. "Of course."
